The flashlight looks heavier in the photos and the specs say metal, but is really a light plastic. The magnet and the knife are very weak and only the hammer is metal so I'm not sure if it would work in a safety situation (I think the handle would shatter) but since I really just wanted it as a flashlight, I'm happy. All of the light modes work well and as promised.

I feel like 4 stairs is pretty fair. The light works; the main light has a huge hotspot, but it does have a decent radius for the lighting area. The side light is useful, though I can't comment on the emergency features like the belt cutter or glass breaker. Never trust your life to a $2 item. However, I mainly bought it for the magnet at the top, and that is basically functionless. It has magnets, but they're so weak they can't hold anything, and the light falls off immediately. The magnet feature was the main reason I picked it over another flashlight, so if you're thinking the same, avoid this one. pick another
